Clean Wax from Carpet
- Remove as much of the wax as possible by hand or with a vacuum.
- Place a piece of paper over the wax (old grocery bags work great!).
- Heat up an iron and run it over the paper. Two or three times over should be enough to melt the wax.
- Lift the paper, the wax should have melted into the paper and away from the carpet!
Cleaning Wine from Carpet
- Sprinkle salt on spill.
- Let salt absorb.
- Rinse with cool water.
Clean Computer Mouse
- These instructions are intended for an analog (non-optical) mouse.
- Turn the mouse upside down.
- Generally there is a locking retainer ring surrounding the mouse ball. Remove it by putting pressure on two sides of the ring with your fingers and rotating counterclockwise.
- Remove the mouse ball.
- There will be three rollers on the inside of the housing, two are for tracking (horizontal/vertical) and the third is for keeping the ball in contact with the other two.
- Swab all three with cotton swabs dipped in isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol until all the debris is removed.
- Replace the mouse ball
- Replace the retainer clip by setting it in place and rotating clockwise until it stops. You should not need to force it.
Clean Computer Screen/Monitor
- Turn off the monitor so you can see the dirt better.
- Dampen a lint free cloth with ammonia or glass cleaner.
- Wipe from top down rubbing difficult areas.
Clean Shower Door Tracks
- Using an old toothbrush, loosen up any dirt and hair.
- Vacuum with attachment.
- Using a liquid spray cleaner.
- Scrub with tile brush and toothbrush.
- Rinse tracks by pouring water onto them or with a shower wand.
- Wipe away any remaining dirt with cloths.
Clean Shower Walls
- Spray walls with phosphoric acid cleaner to remove the mineral deposits and wipe with a sponge.
- Apply the critus slove (or any degreaser) with a hand sprayer to remove the soap scrum and wipe off with a sponge.
- Use hand and eye protection.
Clean Mildew from Basement Walls
- Tape the pieces of foil tightly to the floor and walls in different areas.
- During the next two days you should look for moisture between the concrete and tin foil.
- If moisture is present, this means you have a problem and need to repair the foundation or a floor leak.
- If the problem cannot be solved contact a professional.
- If the moisture remains on the surface, this means there is a problem with the humidity.
- So in the summer, introduce air circulation by opening windows, and in Winter close the windows and doors.
- Can clean with a solution of 1:3 chlorine bleach and water.
Clean Painted Walls
- Brush away any cobwebs and dust from the wall with a brush.
- Remove any remaining dirt with a dry-sponge.
- Rub the dry sponge along the wall to lift dirt.
- Fill a bucket about 3/4 with warm water.
- Add a small amount of dish soap into the bucket.
- Wring out sponge in empty bucket
- Dip the flat face of sponge into cleaning bucket until damp.
- Spread the cleaning solution with the sponge working top to bottom.
- Sqeeze the sponge over the empty bucket.
- Using a dry towel, blot the surface of the wall you've cleaned as to lift any further dirt.
- Repeat this process until cleaned the entire wall.
A Few Natural Cleaning Agents
- Grease Cutter - Vinegar is a natural grease cutter. Add it to dishwater, countertop cleaning and glass cleaners.
- Dishwater Spot Remover - add a few teaspoons of vinegar to dishwater to help remove spots
- Natural Scrubber - Baking Soda is a natural scouring powder. Sprinkle it from the box and use on pans, sinks, tubs & countertops.
- All-Purpose Mildew Cleaner - The perfect natural combination of lemon juice and sunshine is usually powerful enough to kill mildew.
